 Pat
and Archer are active competition dancers who have recently won contests
at Fat Harold's in North Myrtle Beach, Red's Beach Club in Raleigh,
Thirsty's 2 in Greensboro, and 3 thirty 3 sports bar in Burlington.
They have been teaching all levels
of shag lessons for 14+ years (private & group) and are board members of
the Competitive Shaggers Association and the Greater Triad Shag Club.
Archer was awarded the 2002 Beth Mitchell "Spirit of the Dance" award by
Fat Harold's Beach Club.

Melissa Sharpe Calabrese

 Melissa
first started shagging in 1990 & started competing in 1991 with
Randy Dorvin. Melissa & Randy went undefeated in various contests
they competed in throughout 1991. They went on to compete in the
National Shag Dance Championship in 1992, & won the Non Pro
Nationals title.
Melissa then started competing with Sam West in 1992. Melissa & Sam
were also undefeated while competing throughout 1992 & 1993. Melissa
& Sam competed in the 1993 Nationals where they won the Non Pro
Nationals title, as well as 1993 Overall Champions. Melissa is
currently the only female to win back-to-back Non Pro Nationals
title, with 2 different partners. After retiring from shag in 1993
to get married & have a family, Melissa has recently started
competing again in 2009 in the Pro division with Jeff Hargett, & her
current partner Danny Johnson. Melissa lives in High Point with son,
Michael. She has been a Realtor with Coldwell Banker Triad, Realtors
selling the Triad area for over 13 years. If you have questions

Sy began dancing in 1982 at the age of 12. Taught by his mom and
dad, he began competitive dancing in 1983 in the
Jr. Division of SPA. After earning two National Championship titles
in the Jr.Division, several Jr SPA Division wins, appearing in
several commercials, and appearing as a lead/featured dancer in
"Shag the Movie" during the Mid 80's, he returned to competitive
shag in 1990 at the age of 21. Sy accumulated straight wins in the
Novice Division, earning the opportunity to dance in the Pro
Division. After turning Pro and during a five year period 1990-1995,
he accumulated two National Championship titles, two Runners-up
finishes in the Nationals,
and numerous SPA/CSA wins. Sy also served as VP of the |

 Darrell
and Kathy are active CSA/SPA competitive dancers. Darrell has taught shag
for over ten years. Posted wins at Duck's in North Myrtle Beach, Red's
Beach Club in Raleigh, SOS "Smoothies", The Shad Alberty Contest in
Charlotte
and the Azalea Festival in Wilmington.
All levels of shag are taught in group and private lessons. Kathy and
Darrell focus on style, execution, timing & smoothness of the dance.
Darrell served as president and board member of the Greater Triad Shag
Club.

Kristal
Taylor

 Kristal
first started shagging in 1988 when she was only seven years old.
She won 2nd place at the National Shag Dance Championships at the
age of ten. She then went on to become the 1st place winner and
overall winner of the Virginia State open in 1992. Kristal was also
given the Rising Star Award that year. She has since been a
competitor in the junior division as well as the professional
division at the Nationals. Kristal has placed 2nd & 3rd in the Beth
Mitchell Mixed Doubles, and is a two time 1st place winner of the
Bunk Leach Mixed Doubles, both held at Thirsty's 2.

Competitive Shaggers Association during the early 90's in its infancy. Over the last
28 years, he has traveled all over the US holding many classes, private
lessons, work shops, and exhibitions. Sy has competed in the US Open
Swing Championships, and has been inducted into the Shaggers Hall of
Fame's Keepers of the Dance. At 40, he now enjoys time with his wife,
Susan, and their 3 children, Cody 10, Payton 8, and Blaine 5. After
several requests, Sy has stepped back into the arena of instruction and
is looking forward to the opportunity to pass along some of his Shag

 Tim has been a ballroom
dance instructor for over 18 years. He has been teaching youth and adults,
as well as dancing for debutantes and weddings. Tim specializes in Swing,
Cha-cha, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Salsa, Mambo, Rumba, and
Hustle.
